I create a personalised intervention programme that understands your child’s individual differences and that works towards developmental goals to enhance their communication and/or feeding skills.
This may look like visiting your family home once a week, working closely with your child and yourselves to support your understanding of your child’s communication profile as well as developing the childs shared attention skills and encouraging purposeful communication.
The services can be tailored for your child to complement the support services that already exist in their life such as the Educational and Heath Care Plan.
I endeavour to focus on the unique profile of your child not the diagnosis, so whether a diagnosis is obtained or not, will have little impact on the intervention. However, many of my clients have diagnoses of Developmental Delays or impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorders, Sensory Processing’s Disorders, Developmental Coordination Disorders and/or emotional and behavioural challenges.
I am able to assess your child in regards to their attention, play abilities, social skills, receptive and expressive language skills and oral motor skills such as feeding and articulation both through observations and/ or standardised assessments.
I am able to provide a variety of reports to support Education, Health and Care Plans and Medico-legal reports when necessary. I am also available to provide assessments for autism whilst working in collaboration with a network of professionals.
I use a variety of approaches and through clinical reasoning tailor the intervention to suit your child and family. Therapy can be direct intervention with myself or indirect via coaching family members and school staff.
Therapy can be undertaken individually or in a group. Groups can be formed with siblings or with carefully matched peers. Group therapy is recommended for needs such as social challenges or feeding/ eating concerns but can also be beneficial when working on more specific speech and language challenges.
Intervention can be undertaken within your home, your child's school or in one of my clinical spaces. There are three clinical spaces available, one in East London, one in South London and one in Essex.
For international clients or clients outside of London, I am available to undertake sessions and training via online platforms. I am also available to travel if required for assessments and therapy. If you are planning a trip to London, intensive therapy blocks can be arranged.
I regularly run workshops in and around London and the South East to parents and other professionals in regards to social communication, parent interaction, feeding and speech and language development.
Although working independently, I have a wide network of peers and work closely with a variety of professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Physio Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Play Therapists and Nutritionists.
I consult for Family Futures, a London based clinic that supports adopted children and their families and Sundance Therapy Clinic an Essex based clinic that supports children and young adolescents.
If you have a question about my services, approaches or would like to discuss your child’s needs, please get in touch and I will be happy to help.
